TRANSPORTER 3 DVD REVIEW

Certificate: 15

Genre: Action

Chris' Verdict On The Transporter 3 DVD Review: 7/10- "Admittedly,
there is little in the way of meaningful plot and the dialogue is painful.
However, I still really enjoyed the film and in particular I enjoyed Jason
Statham's performance."

Ellie's Verdict on The Transporter 3 DVD Review: 5/10- "There was
little in the way of any kind of story. Instead it seemed to be action
sequence after action sequence with a predictable plot line."

Transporter 3 DVD Review

As the film’s title suggests, Transporter 3 is the third in the series of swashbuckling
action movies starring Jason Statham as a ruthless yet gentle courier come
assassin. If you have seen the other films in this series then you will know exactly
what to expect. For those of you that have not I will fill you in with the basic plot
line. Jason Statham plays Frank, a calm calculated man who enjoys nothing more
than peace in his life. His job, is to transport packages for dodgy men, under no
circumstances does he look at the package, he simply delivers it. Like the other
films, this job is different and Frank will have to break the rules that he has stuck
to so rigidly. As is the case with the other films in the series, the package is not all
what it seems to be and there are a number of obvious twists along the way.

The one thing you can expect from the Transporter films is action, car chases,
violence and dry humour throughout with the occasional romantic lapse from an
otherwise detached character. Following a series of unfortunate events, Jason
Statham is left bound to the car by a bomb, if he leaves the car then the bomb will
explode and he, along with the package would be destroyed. His old friend, the
French policeman also makes an appearance and helps him along the way. Jason
Statham is left along to lead and carry the film from start to finish with little or no
support from the supporting cast around him.

The action is probably the thing that this Transporter review should focus most on.
After all, Transporter 3 does not promise an interesting and sophisticated plot line
and it certainly does not have a cast to match other Hollywood blockbusters. The
one thing it does have is sometimes mindless action from start to finish. The stunts
and action sequences are as always far-fetched and completely impossible. There
is a matrix like scene where he uses a pole to defeat around 15 ‘bad guys’ and
someone twice his size. If this was not unrealistic enough, he also managed to turn
the car onto its side and drive it between two Lorries which must have been done
by special effects. However unrealistic the chase and fight scenes may be, they
are gripping and Transporter 3 does not drag at all. Some people may find the
impossibility of the stunts unbearable but as a fan of Jason Statham and action
movies, I enjoyed the stunts and found some of the ridiculousness of the stunts
amusing.

Like the other films in the series, Transporter 3 is not intended to be particularly
funny but the humour definitely deserves a mention in my Transporter 3 review.
For a start, the Ukrainian girl accompanying Frank, who turns out to be package is
absolutely hilarious. Her inability to speak good English produces some classic
lines including , “you are the gay?”. You will either laugh out loud at the lines or
cringe time after time. Once again,
Jason Statham is funny because of his attitude
and detachment to everyone and everything. Finally, the action and impossibility
of the film as a whole is quite amusing. Not only can Frank, played by Jason
Statham, defeat a whole gang with his bare hands but he can also catch a car
while on a BMX bike. Ultimately, Transporter 3 is definitely not a classic but if you
want a film that is easy and quite funny viewing then this is the movie for you. It is
probably worth a rental rather than buying it because I think some characters
could become very annoying if you were to watch the film more than once.
