THE CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN
BUTTON REVIEW

Certificate: 15

Genre: Adventure/Action

Chris' Verdict On The Curious Case of Benjamin Button review: 6/10-
"I must admit that I was a bit apprehensive before going to see this film for
two main reasons. Firstly, the film is a full three hours long which is
considerably longer than most people's attention span and secondly the
number of OSCAR nominations it received which can sometimes mean the
film will be deep and complex but pretty boring to watch."

Ellie's Verdict on The Curious Case of Benjamin Button Review: 8/10-
"I really enjoyed this film and would definitely recommend it to a friend and I
will probably buy it on DVD. Brad Pitt is looking as gorgeous as ever and it is
really clever how they change his appearance so he does actually look like
he is growing younger."

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button Review

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button is definitely one of the most anticipated films
of the year. I myself first saw the trailer for this film last summer and it seems like
an age before the film has actually hit the screens. The film does what it says in
the title, it tells the story of the 'The Curious Case of Benjamin Button'. If you do
not already know the story then I will explain it briefly. Unlike a normal human,
Benjamin Button is not born as a young baby, instead he is born as an old man
who gradually gets younger rather than older like the rest of us! The story is
narrated by Benjamin Button himself as the daughter of Benjamin Button's true
love reads out his diary while her mum is on her death bed. The diary tells of
Benjamin Button's amazing journey with the help of a new family after his mother
died in child birth and the father abandoned him in panic. The film then travels
along with Benjamin Button on his various exploits including a spell on a tug boat
and a visit to a brothel. As you might have expected, there is a woman in the story
played by Cate Blanchett, while she is not the only love of Benjamin Button, she is
his true love and the one person he wants to spend his life with. The problem is,
she is growing old and he is growing younger. This is a sad tale and is likely to
bring a tear or two to eyes of those more sensitive people reading this Benjamin
Button review.

The first thing to consider in this Benjamin Button review is the performance of the
relatively small cast considering the size of the film. Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett
are the two main focal points of the film and both give fantastic performances
which for me made the film flow although out of the two. I preferred Brad Pitt's
performance the most and I think he is deserving of his OSCAR nomination and
has returned to his best form. Moreover, Tilda Swinton and Benjamin Button's
adopted mother both give memorable and enjoyable performances. Indeed, for
me, it was the acting along with the make-up that made the film the success that it
was.

The plot is good and the dialogue is ok but nothing special. Although there are a
number of more humorous parts of Brad Pitt's narration as the naive Benjamin
Button travels through life. If there had been a bit more action rather than quite as
much romance then I would have probably enjoyed the film more than I did.
Overall, there are a number of good things in this film and it was surprisingly
enjoyable to watch and the three hours flew past much faster than I expected.
Nevertheless, I feel the film could have been condensed slightly more than it was
and there could have been a little more action even though there is a relatively
brief scene when Benjamin Button's tug boat is attacked by a Japanese. I would
recommend this film to everyone although younger's members o the audience may
find it a little bit boring and I am probably going to buy this on DVD.
