Made Of Honour Review:

Certificate:
12A

Genre: Romantic Comedy

Who's in it: Patrick Dempsey, Michelle Monaghan, Sydney Pollack

Chris' Verdict on Made of Honour: 6/10- "Decent but not my type of film. I am really not a fan of
the wedding romantic comedies that seem to have become a trend in Hollywood. There is not
enough happening in Made of Honour to keep me interested. I feel for Patrick Dempsey and
Michelle Monaghan for having to work with a such a bad script."

Ellie's Verdict on Made of Honour: 7/10- "Really good romantic comedy. Unlike Chris, I think
that Made of Honour has everything needed to great a top romantic comedy. There plot is
predictable in places but that is bearable because the two leads are excellent. I preferred 27
Dresses but I would still recommend Made of Honour."

Made Of Honour Film Review

‘Made of Honour’ is the story of Tom played by Patrick Dempsey. Tom is a
successful, sexy, ladies man who seems to have it all and is the idol of most of his
friends. The focus of the film is his best friend Hannah and their perfect relationship,
she is after all the only constant in his life. But when Hannah goes away for six
weeks, Tom realises how much he misses Hannah and decides to propose to her
when she returns, but Hannah has a surprise of her own. Tom ends up becoming the
Maid of Honour in Made of Honour.

Made of Honour is the latest of a string of romantic comedies to hit the cinema. To be
honest I am not normally a fan but I did enjoy P.S I Love You. A romantic comedy has
to be well constructed while having enough twists and turns so the plot does not
become dull and humour to keep you interested during the romance. However, in
Made of Honour there is a lot lacking. The supposed twists in the plot are incredibly
predictable and so cliche like most poor romantic comedies. Made of Honour is not
funny. The jokes are repeated over and over and to be honest are just not that
funny.

Made of Honour is not a complete loss. Congratulations to the casting director for
this film because they made good choices in Patrick Dempsey and Michelle
Monaghan. Their early exchanges, banter and the chemistry between the two left me
anticipating a good film and a good review.

It all goes wrong for Tom when Kevin McKidd enters the fray. Tom used to being
dominant, a woman's dream and the best at everything gets a rude awakening. Kevin
better than Tom at what appears to be everything which is slightly over down but
never mind. In Made of Honour there is a whole passage of the film dedicated to
Scottish marriage rituals like hurtling logs across the field etc... This was funny for a
few minutes but it was seriously over done and even then you could predict what was
going to happen.

Overall, both of the leads give good performances and can not be criticised in this
review. However, this film does disappoint. Wedding films are becoming more and
more common and so the need for something unique is increasing. Made of Honour
does not provide anything unique other than the odd saucy moment like sex toys at
the shower and the fact that a man is the Maid of Honour. Made of Honour did have
some promise but both the directing and the plot let it down.
