| Indiana Jones: The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull DVD Movie Review The Indiana Jones trilogy has provided action entertainment for generations. Harrison Ford returns as Indiana Jones in a plot to save some relics known as the Crystal Skulls. Indiana Jones 4- and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull has be much awaited by fans who expect this film to live up to the success of the previous three. With a few concerns that Harrison Ford may be too old to successfully perform the demanding stunts and fast pace of this film, I personally was not expecting it to live up to the original Indiana Jones trilogy and I was wrong. Not only was the plot entwined with true Indiana Jones action but I was kept on the edge of the seat throughout. There was enough action, comedy and a good balance of everything to make Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull top of the box office. Shia La Beouf, seen last year in Transformers seems to be the new and upcoming star. Alongside Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones, the two created an entertaining partnership. Both actors give a good performance and arguably carry Indiana Jones to being possibly the biggest hit of 2008. Their co-stars of Ray Winstone and the stunning Cate Blanchett also contribute to making Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull a must see. Playing the character of Irina Spalko, Cate Blanchett, is also in search of the Crystal Skull and aims to find it before Indiana Jones. The Crystal Skull, which remains slightly mysterious and unknown throughout the film, is sought after by Irina Spalko and her team due to a belief that it could help the Soviet power take over the world. It is therefore Indiana Jones and Mutt (Shia La Beouf) who must stand in their way and stop the Crystal Skull from being found by the enemies. If you do not like the previous Indiana Jones films I would recommend giving this one ago. I have always seen Indiana Jones alongside films such as Die Hard which have been seen as stereotypical ‘male’ films. With Cate Blanchett and Shia La Beouf, I do believe that many girls can enjoy this film. Harrison Ford, also surprised me in his freshness and ability to dominate the screen. For me this was the best Indiana Jones film however, I do know that others disagree. The humour and action in combination means that I would consider recommending it to my friends and family. It is one of those films you could watch over and over again but beware, for those who are watching for the first time, it is especially important not to give away the plot as one slip can spoil all. As you can see from the review ratings, Indiana Jones still scored higher from the male perspective but I would definitely say it was worth the money to buy a ticket. |
