Rambo Review

Sylvester Stallone returns to make the fourth and most much more action and murder
than the other Rambo films which was a surprise to me. This film was made to bring a
fitting end to the Rambo series that has millions of fans worldwide. The graphic nature
of some scenes may mean that there is controversy over the film classification and
even whether it should be released and for this reason British cinema chain Odeon are
not going to show the film.

Sylvester Stallone looks the part as a brutal mercenary albeit the man is turning into a
waxwork rather than a man. His voice is menacing and would scare me let alone his
next victims. The film addresses Rambo's age and his does not look out of place. It is
an achievement that he has managed to get into this shape and it is worth seeing the
film just to see the shape he is in.

The plot is basic as you might expect but this makes the film easy viewing and there is
enough story to make the film decent. There is more of story in this film when
compared to the others in the series as Rambo begins to come to terms with what he
has become helped by the Christian woman that he embarks on a mission save as
Rambo tries to become a man after years as a soldier. The basic nature of the plot
means those who have not seen the other films will still enjoy this film.

In this film Rambo is helped by a group of mercenaries that have been hired to save
the missionaries. Within this group is 'The Schoolboy' sniper who's sniper rifle is able to
literally blow the head off his victims. A former SAS soldier also provides amusement
and is arguably the meanest character in the film.

Some of the scenes of torture and attempted rape are horrific and a lot of the audience
will want to look away. The action scenes are what you would go to see the film for and
the action does not disappoint. There is plenty of gore, plenty of gun and hundreds of
dead men thanks to rampage of John Rambo. The best of the action scenes is the
finale of the film and sees Stallone mow down hundreds of soldiers with a powerful
machine gun.

There is little for the female audience. There is little if any romance, Sylvester Stallone
is in no way a hunk anymore and some scenes are genuinely horrific. Ultimately, if you
enjoyed the other Rambo films then you will this one as well. This film has more action,
more story than the other films in this series. If you enjoy action films see this film!
