| Death Race DVD Film Review Death Race' marks the return of the 1975 classic film. This time, Britain's Hollywood action hero, Jason Statham takes the lead as former Nascar champion Jensen Ames. The film starts with the former star, Ames, losing everything and then just as he starts to get his life back on track, his wife is murdered and he is framed for the murder and sent to Terminal Island, the world's toughest prison. if they manage to win 5 death races in a row. Statham takes the place of the four time champion win the race, he will be dead! As you might expect, 'Death Race' is packed with high octane action from start to finish. From the opening scene to the closing scene, the action is engaging and exciting. The races are no ordinary races, and the cars are no ordinary cars. Each of the drivers have customised their cars with flame throwers, rockets and everything else you can think of. For me, the mindless car destruction made the action all the more enjoyable. However, beyond the continuous violence 'Death Race' has little else to offer. At times, the dialogue is cringe-worthy at best. Surprisingly, there is quite a lot of comedy in 'Death Race'. Statham's behaviour is amusing, the mindless action becomes laughable and there is the odd funny one line hidden among slow and painful dialogue. As a film, 'Death Race' is pretty awful but for me, the spectacular action kept be engaged and made 'Death Race' enjoyable. Overall, if you love action then I would recommend seeing Death Race otherwise I would steer clear of 'Death Race'. |
